Grappling is a term to describe all forms of wrestling be it Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Catch Wrestling, Sambo, etc. Our BJJ program is very well known on the competitive scene thanks to stand out grapplers such as Justin Rice, Hillary Williams and Mark Sniff. What a lot of people do not realize is that we have the privilege of being the only gym in the state to offer Catch Wrestling, Amateur Wrestling, Judo, BJJ and even a little Sambo. This allows our team to not be confined by the rules of one grappling art. For example in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu heal hooks and neck cranks are illegal. However in Catch Wrestling they are staples of the art. Additionally in MMA which is the end goal for many of our grapplers these moves are legal. Therefore, to truly be well rounded in grappling you need to train with as many arts as possible. Of course, all submissions at Westside are applied in training with safety being the number one factor. If you are interested in learning all aspects of ground fighting, not just sport BJJ then Westside is the best and only choice.
