But for MMA veteran and former UFC fighter and The Ultimate Fighter contestant Roli Delgado that's exactly what he did last Friday in New York wanting to prove he had more than just a ground game, and that his Boxing and Kick Boxing training for MMA could translate to a competitive environment where all you can do is strike.
]]>TUF 8 alum Roli Delgado strapped on the gloves this past weekend and threw down, and he wholloped his opponent for three rounds before earning a unanimous decision. What’s most notable about that, though, is Delgado – considered by most to be more of a jiu-jitsu guy – employed only striking to snag the win. Also, it was a pro Muay Thai match. FCF caught up with the jiu-jitsu black belt while he was teaching a seminar at the C3 Athletics gym in Stamford, Connecticut, to get the scoop on what the UFC veteran has been up to.
]]>MTA: Did you see the comments Turan made about hardly training for you, and that he was disappointed in having to fight you?
Roli: I actually heard from the promoter at weigh ins about his comments. I told my team that I didn't want to look, hear or talk about it. The fight is the fight, I've had 29 fights including kickboxing & MMA and the only thing that matters is what happens in the cage/ring.
]]>Black belt world champion in 2010 Hillary Williams heads into the new year as one of the big names in female Jiu-Jitsu. The fighter was sidelined during the second half of the year due to a wrist injury but stayed involved in the sport, notably as an IBJJF referee.

]]>In Brazil to compete at the Rio International Open, Hillary Williams ended up sidelined by misfortune. The Westside JJ black belt was injured while training for the event. A wrist lock was the culprit, causing a fracture, but her stay in the country is not in vain.
