Never too old to learn new tricks

Here we have Mr Jim who drives an hour each way to get to Westside MA and has more rounds sparring logged than most fighters, all at 72 years young! Chuck Thompson came in the gym and lost around 100lbs, fought mma past 40 yes old, and sneaks away from work at lunch time on Tuesday's just to punch Mr Jim in the mouth. Couldn't be more proud to promote these two today! Both of these gentleman found Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu later in life and both are reaping the rewards. Jacob and Zack win their super fights at Summit Grappling in Memphis

Congrats to our guys who have not only both lost a ton of weight with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu here at Westside MMA, they have both also won their super fights! Jacob had a tough match but got the finish with 1 second left! Zach dominated his match with positional superiority by taking the back, the most dominant position in BJJ. Good job guys! ....

Gold and Silver medals at No Gi Worlds this weekend

Westside MMA's Wrestling coach Dylan Johnson followed his Gold medal performance at Pans this year with a silver medal at Worlds. Almost finishing his final match with an armbar. Dylan made great strides this year with the help of his coaches Sean Ross with Ross Strength and Speed, Ataide Rafael who runs the Jiu Jitsu program at Westside MMA and Roli Delgado, the head coach of Westside BJJ / MMA. Trusting the process and combing hard work with a good program led to an amazing competative year for Dylan. Also, as mentioned before, lifetime practitioner Ataide Rafael and Dylan's coach won his first World title. Ataide, a native of Brazil had done very litte No Gi before arriving to Westside ....

TJ Brown, a home grown MMA fighter out of Arkansas picked up the UFC's performance bonus in his 6th fight with the organization. Both Downtown TJ Brown and Bryce Thug Nasty Mitchell will be representing Westside MMA at the UFC in 2 weeks. Not only are both Arkansans fighting on the same show but they are both under dogs!? Med student places 3rd at Masters worlds

Katherine Hart decided to sign up for worlds even though she hadn't been able to train much with her school schedule at UAMS. In 7 weeks she dropped 7 pounds using a variation of the keto diet and trained extensively with her husband Roli Delgado and her coach Ataide here at Westside. All three of her victories were a result of her will to win, conditioning and keeping a simple game plan of being proactive and utilizing her coaches experience. We're incredibly proud of her and thank all of her training partners that made the time to work with her for this amazing event. Both Katie and her husband share a medal at their first worlds event which we think is pretty cool! Congrats Katie! ....

Little Rock Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling coaches close our Absolute tournament

Little Rock was the lucky host of the professional grappling show Summit Grappling and two of our instructors here at Westside MMA closed out the absolute division after winning their super fights by submissions. Dylan teaches the Monday night wrestling practices and Ataide covers most of the Jiu Jitsu classes here as well. Dylan came from a wrestling background originally and Ataide was more of a Gi practitioner before arriving to Westside last year. The melting pot of instructors here provides a great advantage over the competition. We want to give both of these coaches a big congrats on winning and putting some cash in their pockets! By the way, both are available for private lessons! ....
